Selkie Bar Table "Failte Slainte"

A project initiated by a friend to paint a Table for his family's Olde World Scottish/Irish pub, Bobby's Place.

This project was fun and challenging. I typically work in digital medium so I did learn quite a few things. I was stuck on the concept of the artwork being viewable from either side of the table. I played with a few ideas, but ultimately fell upon the theme of the old Scottish / Irish myth of Selkies. I took some inspiration from the film "Song of the Sea"

The ambigram for Failte Slainte / Bobby's Place is slightly modified from a design I licensed from a website called FlipScript. Check it out, it's pretty cool.

This piece was challenging for me as I typically do my work in Digital medium. It was completed using acrylic paint, pigment ink, and graphite.
